I remember reading a newspaper article a few years ago, about a British family who where making  some serious cash from their YouTube video. The world renowned clip entitled "Charlie Bit My Finger - Again !", is estimated to have made the family anywhere in the region of $100,000 to $500,000 not bad for 56 seconds of work. Charlie's family made their money initially through the YouTube Partners Program, and I always wondered what does it take to get accepted on the partners program.

•  1,000 views on all your videos
•  10,000 channel views

It is not that trivial to get accepted and to make good money you basically have to have a viral hit.
